Description
Why red grape raisins? In a word: nutrition. In three more words: they taste better.
You probably know that red grapes are far more nutritious than green grapes. And it’s natural to assume that golden raisins are made from green grapes (they are), and black raisins come from red or black grapes (they dont!). In fact, black raisins are made from green grapes! So just the fact that our raisins are made from red grapes already puts them miles ahead of standard raisins.
But how do green grapes become black raisins? They’re exposed to the sun for typically about three weeks. And all that solar radiation destroys much of the nutrition that the grapes started with. Our Amaizins are not exposed to the sun at all. They’re dehydrated for just a few hours. It’s true that the heat of the quick-dehydration process may reduce the nutrient content slightly, but the quick process limits this reduction. Further, we slice each grape in two (by hand) to dramatically speed up the dehydration process, thereby cutting the heat exposure and preserving more of the nutrition.
At the end of the process, we estimate that our Amaizins red grape raisins contain something like 10 times the beneficial phytonutrients of conventional, grocery store raisins.
Even better, Amaizins taste better! Red grapes start with a sweeter, more complex flavor than green grapes, and because our process seeks to retain as much benefit as possible, that complex flavor is delivered in the resulting raisins as well.
