Freeze Dried Peppermint Candies

Description

We refer to our freeze dried peppermint candies as “Puffermints(TM)” because the candies puff up in the freeze dryer to become light, crunchy beach balls (and some of them seem to get nearly as big as a beach ball!). You may have noticed that it can be challenging to eat a traditional hard peppermint candy (the type often referred to as “star mints”). It’s hard to resist the temptation to bite it. But when you do, it’s very hard, so there’s no pleasant crunch. And even though it’s very hard, it’s just barely soft enough that you will probably crack off a piece or two that will stick to your teeth annoyingly. But these freeze dried peppermint candies can easily be eaten sort of like an apple. An apple with all of the bright, tingly peppermint but light and crunchy like a big, round cheese puff.

They make a lovely snack. But you can also use them as a flavor bomb in various beverages. Toss one into coffee or hot chocolate, and it’ll dissolve like the wicked witch in The Wizard of Oz, converting your drink into a peppermint-infused delight!
