Description

Our Giraffe Eggscandies start out as Charleston Chews(R) Minis, which are then freeze dried. In the process, the inner vanilla nougat explodes from inside the chocolate coating, making a transition from soft and chewy to light and airy and crunchy. Miraculously, the chocolate coating comes through the process intact, even though chocolate is one of the foods that is supposedly impossible to freeze dry. So if you want a freeze dried candy with chocolate, this is one of only a few options (aside from our artisanal freeze dried fine chocolates, of course).

These are my number one favorite freeze dried candy among all the options. And when we offer samples to people, these are the among those most likely to produce a “Wow!” response. Since we can’t use trademarked names like “Charleston Chews,” we have to make up our own names for some candies. It took a long time to come up with an alternate name for these, but I think we’ve finally found a name we can be happy with: Giraffe Eggs.

Please note: these Giraffe Eggs are typically not fertilized. If you put one in an incubator, most likely nothing will happen other than the chocolate might melt. But if a giraffe hatches, we are not responsible!
